Laktoa George Estes spends a lot of his time healing.

He is well known in many schools and art circles for his profound approach to relating the musical message of his flute to the sounds and feelings of nature.
He combines education with entertaining through his flute music and through his love of storytelling.

Lakota George (as his friends know him) travels around the country giving presentations and workshops on Lakota culture and Native American issues.

He has worked as a counselor, using his musical flute as a therapeutic tool.

George often plays for newborns, and ill children at various hospitals. Day care and nursing home workers find the peaceful music soothing and say it releases a power of cleansing and contentment.

A glance through Lakota George's scrapbook gives insight into the successes of his performances. Newspaper clippings from cities throughout the U.S., articles from business newsletters, and letters from public and private schools, universities and from the children themselves, are gratifying revelations of his success. Children have drawn pictures for him and written letters.

"Dear Mr. Lakota when you played the flute I became a butterfly..."

"Dear Lakota George. I am part Indian and proud of it because of you. You taught what it's like to be Native American. I'll remember what you taught."

"Dearest Lakota George. I loved it when you played the flute music. I was in Jamaica, singing behind the trees. My favorite flute was the cedar tree."

Before we take anything from the
Earth we must give something back...
Each tree gave it's song to the one
who used it's wood to make a Flute        or a Drum.
The taker must first give thanks to
the trees for the use of its branches...
